About This Position

The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. The Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for performing a wide variety of experiments in a research laboratory studying the innate immune regulator STING and its role in influencing inflammatory disease as well as cancer. Objectives will be to evaluate novel STING-dependent adjuvants for the immunotherapeutic treatment of cancer as well as in new vaccine concepts to prevent infectious diseases and cancer.

* Candidates will support research activities at the University and work under the direction of a principal investigator, program director, or designee of the principal investigator or program director.

* Candidates work under direct supervision, but are expected to carry out research duties with creativity and latitude.

* Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.

* Prepares reports of research results for public presentation through seminars and conferences.

* Collects and analyzes data as requested.

* Maintains appropriate databases. Ensures accurate written and computerized records.

* Undertakes literature searches for the research project. Interprets and present the findings of the literature searches, advising the research teams appropriately regarding potential projects.

* Maintains up to date with subject related and professional issues, in particular, developments in the specific subject area.

* Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance.

* Expected to contribute to extramural proposals, publications, and presentations relevant to the specific area of research.

Minimum Qualifications

* Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in Microbiology and Immunology

* Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

* Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

* Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

* Strong experience with cell culture, and Molecular Biology techniques such as DNA and RNA purification, cloning, qPCR, Western Blot, immuno-precipitation, post-translational regulation, cell signaling.

* Strong experience in T-cells assays (CTL), ELISA, cancer models and immunotherapy. Immunohistochemistry knowledge and Flow Cytometry.

* Experience with Recombinant Viral Vaccines and neutralizing Antibody Assays.

* Ability to perform in vivo experiments using murine models: breeding of Mouse strains, bleeding and vaccine injections technique proficiency.

* Previous experience with animal experiments: syngeneic Mouse Models development. Strong knowledge of immunology and cell biology.

* Ability to convey information effectively, to work independently, and to follow verbal and written instructions.

* Strong analytical skills.

* Possess advanced knowledge and be capable of exercising considerable latitude for independent judgement, perform non-routine and complex laboratory duties requiring advanced technical skills and proficiency for divisional faculty.
