Overview:
This position assists the environmental manager and geologists with environmental field work as well as the preparation of environmental documentation for various projects.
Responsibilities:
Conduct literature research for environmental constraints of proposed projects
Conduct fieldwork including:
Wetland delineations according to USACE 1987 wetland delineation manual and recent updates
Threatened and endangered species surveys and habitat assessments according to USFWS protocol
Karst Invertebrate survey experience
Conduct socioeconomic and land use analyses for varied projects
Complete Indirect and Cumulative Impact Analyses
Produce map products and analysis as needed to support GIS exhibits for reports
Prepare environmental documentation, including Section 404 permits, Threatened and Endangered Species Survey Reports, NEPA documentation (CEs, EAs, and EISs)
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, Environmental Science or related field
5-10 years' experience in conducting environmental field work and preparing environmental documentation
Experience conducting research and analyses for NEPA documentation is desired
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Scientific Research permit in Texas and wetland delineation certification
Experience using a GPS unit
Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and ArcGIS
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Effective communication skills both oral and written
Must be dependable and reliable
Must be flexible to work within the office hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree preferred
