Overview:

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is growing and we have an excellent opportunity to hire a Project Manager in the expanding Ecological Services Practice in the Charlotte office.

As a Project Manager with CEC, you will lead project teams to navigate today's complex environmental regulatory landscape, helping our commercial, institutional, manufacturing, mining, rail, energy and land conservancy clients to achieve and maintain surface water compliance and providing sustainable ecological guidance. Working with clients, contractors, and local government officials, you will be involved in the entire project - from conceptual and design phases, through the regulatory review process, bidding, and construction. Projects will include wetland and stream assessments, delineations, and mitigation; permitting for both impacts and restoration activities; protected endangered species habitat and specific species surveys including bats and plants; natural stream channel restoration design and permitting; and construction oversight and monitoring of aquatic resources impacts or restoration activities; while maintaining sustainable relationships with current staff and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and direct others in the execution of project work;

Work with staff to establish and meet budgets on projects;

Work directly with regulatory agencies to facilitate permitting and project approvals; and

Provide mentoring and training to staff to ensure professional growth and development.

Qualifications:

B.S. in Ecology, Biology, Soil Science, Botany, Natural Resources or Forestry (M.S. a plus);

Professional Wetland Scientist, Licensed Soil Scientist, Certified Botanist or Ecologist;

Certifications in NCSAM/NCWAM, SWITC and Stream Restoration with Rosgen Level I-III preferred;

Experience interpreting Federal, State and local regulations such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources;

Technical Expertise with Sections 10, 311, 401 and 404 of the Federal Clean Water Act and Section 7 consultation for the Endangered Species Act;

Must have established positive and professional rapport with both federal and local regulators; and

Demonstrated management experience to assist in expanding the delivery of our services to target client sectors.
