Assistant Professor, Program in Global and Environmental Public Health The myriad health effects of global climate change, including
those related to heat waves, food insecurity, vector-borne
diseases, storms, and other natural disasters, require a somewhat
urgent research response on local and global impact assessments and
mitigation strategies. The next generation of researchers will in
many ways help define the response to the ongoing and significant
changes in climate due to human activities.
The School of Global Public Health (GPH) of New York University
is preparing for the next generation of public health leaders with
the critical thinking skills, acumen, and entrepreneurial
approaches necessary to reinvent the public health paradigm. GPH aims to improve health worldwide through a unique blend of
global public health studies, research, and practice.
GPH offers various academic programs at the undergraduate,
masters and doctoral levels. The undergraduate program includes 13
joint majors where students study public health with other relevant
subjects. GPH's CEPH-accredited programs include (among others) the
Master of Public Health (MPH) in various concentrations, the Master
of Science in two concentrations, the PhD in Public Health in one
of four areas of study (Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Social &
Behavioral Sciences, and Public Health Policy & Management),
and a school-wide interdisciplinary DrPH degree.
NYU has an extensive global network of teaching and research
sites throughout the world. These sites include three portal
campuses and 12 global academic centers in Africa, Australia,
China, Europe, the Middle East, and North and South America. This
unique arrangement allows GPH to establish and collaborate on
training and degree programs and research efforts worldwide, offers
faculty and students truly unique opportunities to engage in their
research and to study around the world, and informs public health
practice both locally and globally through the exchange of
knowledge.
The Program in Global and Environmental Public Health emphasizes
the development of strong leadership skills while analyzing,
planning, and managing innovative global public health
programs. The program offers three MPH degrees: Global
Health; Environmental Public Health; and the Sustainable
Development Goals. It also offers certificates in Health &
Human Rights, Implementation Science, and Applied Global Public
Health. Faculty in the program collaborate with colleagues in
multiple countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Central
Europe. Faculty in the program also participate in the school-wide,
newly-launched DrPH degree. The Program is interested in
recruiting an outstanding faculty member who can strengthen and
contribute to its research agenda and course offerings. We are

The program is seeking applications for a tenure track Assistant
Professor faculty position. Candidates are expected to have: (1) a
doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH, MD, JD) in an area related to
Global and Environmental Public Health - particularly in the
assessment and/or mitigation of the health effects of climate
change, and (2) teaching experience in global and environmental
public health.

Qualifications
A Doctoral Degree in Public Health or related field and previous
teaching experience in a higher education environment.
Applicants should have a strong and emerging record of scholarly
achievement. Applied public health experience and/or
global/international work experience in a discipline related to
global and environmental public health is highly desirable.
Applicants are expected to be up to date on current topics in
Global and Environmental Public Health.
