OVERVIEW

This position supports R&D strain screening and process development of new enzyme products. The Fermentation Specialist will work as part of a team to operate and maintain the 7L and 20L fermentation systems for early stage strain screening, process development, and lab scale product production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    Execute relevant SOPs and laboratory batch records for the operation, cleaning and maintenanceDevelop and maintain relevant laboratory documentation including operation/maintenance logs, procedures, batch records, reportsPrepare and sterilize media and stock solutionsBuild up and tear down of vessels, assembly of various lines and equipment to be utilized during fermentation experimentsMonitor tanks during run, including pulling and analyzing samples, troubleshooting, basic root cause analysisInstrument maintenance and troubleshootingProvide oversight for execution of daily operations and maintenance inventory of supplies with the groupAssist with offline data entryRoutine lab cleaning to ensure sterility of experimentsUse excellent aseptic technique to assist with cell banking operations, downstream purification and lyophilization, sterility and purity testing, moisture analysisExecute required culture identification and relevant analytical proceduresFollow company relevant policy and SOPs to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • B.A. or B.S Degree in Science or Engineering preferred - candidates with applicable experiences will also be considered
    • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience with good aseptic technique, working with microbial/cell cultures, e.g., development/preparation of media, propagation of cultures, identification of isolates, and maintaining pure cultures
    • Good laboratory techniques to prepare and maintain pure microbial cultures
    • Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment incorporating a variety of functional relationships as mentioned above
    • Strong interpersonal skills and motivation to learn from technical colleagues
    • Flexible work schedule that may involve evening and weekend support
