As the Global Waste Manager, you will be responsible for the successful development and implementation of key strategic initiatives and practices targeted at improving compliance and reducing environmental impact for our operations globally. The Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) team is growing, and we need energetic and dedicated professionals to join a dynamic team committed to protecting the environment, health, and safety of our employees, customers and the global communities where we operate. This subject matter expert (SME) will serve as an organizational technical adviser on global waste management across the company's obligations for hazardous materials and solid/hazardous waste regulations (e.g. U.S. Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, as well as, international equivalents). This position is responsible for managing global environmental programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations for global waste management initiatives across Apple. You will also serve as the primary technical lead for Apple in assessing/solving operational and regulatory issues regarding hazardous materials and solid/hazardous waste regulations. Other key areas of responsibility included global waste analysis planning, global program development/implementation, global regulatory permitting and reporting, global audits and assessments, as well as, global waste disposal to ensure environmental protection.

Key Qualifications

  • 10+ years of global waste management experience.
  • Is able to work flexibly and independently, owning your role, as well as, initiating tasks, and organizing a complex workload.
  • Possess strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to make sound decision-making within multi-corporation(s) to influence the enterprise.
  • Strong technical expertise in global environmental compliance within areas such as: global waste management specific to hazardous waste streams, waste minimization, retail operations, electronic waste, lab waste, data centers, as well as, mitigation for regulatory compliance enforcement.
  • Active knowledge of global environmental legislative trends, as well as, excellent knowledge and experience of the waste industry.
  • Be a revolutionary within the space of global environmental compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Clear, concise and consistent communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in integrating technology to build efficiencies with input, track and monitor compliance


Description

The Global Waste Management SME will ensure compliance with global waste management services across Apple. Articulate global environmental regulations to develop and implement a masterplan for Apples global waste management strategy. The Global Waste Management SME will provide direction, guidance, and technical expertise for Apples enterprise-wide compliance program. The expectation of the role is to employ deep technical/functional expertise advising business units, providing practical application to ensure regulatory compliance, as well as, environmental best management practices. Lead efforts to collaboratively develop and implement global waste management programs and standards in alignment with Apple's core values and initiatives. Make critical decisions in complex environmental risk management matters. Domestic and international travel as required.

Education & Experience

BA or BS program in a relevant EHS field and/or engineering; Master's degree preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Relevant technical training (Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, etc.) preferred Experience with Environmental Management Systems (including ISO 14001)
