This position works collaboratively with our Clinic Operations, Clinic Integrations, and UHG Enterprise Health & Safety (EHS) teams to collectively support state and local operations with primary accountability for providing enterprise health and safety support to multiple care delivery (clinical) and administrative office facilities in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas.

The Regional Health & Safety Specialist will reside in Dallas /Ft. Worth area.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Serving as regional liaison with Enterprise Health & Safety programs
  • Ensuring compliance with WellMed and UHG Enterprise environmental health & safety programs as well as state and local legislation
  • Developing, maintaining, and implementing health and safety programs on a regional basis
  • Providing support and motivation to continuously improve health and safety measures at individual facilities and on a regional basis
  • Serving as regional contact for local, federal, and state health and safety agencies
  • Leading EHS audit process in assigned area of responsibility and assisting operations in addressing audit recommendations
  • Participating in accident investigations and performing root cause analysis for injuries and "near misses" where warranted
  • Helping to define and support health and safety performance metrics
  • Maintaining knowledge of all applicable corporate, federal, state, and local health and safety regulatory requirements
  • Staying abreast of developing regulatory requirements, particularly on a state and local level
  • Keeping business operations and Enterprise Health & Safety leadership informed of new and developing regulations
  • Serving as a resource and consultant for management, supervisors, and employees to effectively address safety issues and concerns
  • Facilitating government safety inspections for designated location(s) and responding in a timely manner with facility management to inquiries/inspections by loss control service provider(s) and government agencies (OSHA, EPA, DOT, Insurance, etc.)
  • Ensuring safety committees are established where required and provide appropriate oversight
  • Participating in and supporting cross-functional project teams and committees

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field; (Four years of comparable work experience in addition to the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree)
  • 4+ years of experience managing health and safety requirements within a healthcare or related industry
  • Thorough familiarity with OSHA and state equivalents for healthcare (or related) facilities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage federal, state, and local regulatory compliance at multiple facilities in multiple states
  • Intermediate computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel (50%) to remote sites as needed required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Well organized and skilled at managing multiple competing priorities
  • Previous experience working in a clinic or similar healthcare environment preferred
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Demonstrated ability to audit facilities as well as assist effectively and thoroughly in addressing audit findings
  • Demonstrated ability to manage OSHA recordkeeping and H&S metrics for multiple facilities

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
  • Ability to push or pull heavy objects using 50+ pounds of force
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and/or machinery
  • Ability to properly drive and operate a company vehicle
  • Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing
  • Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
