Senior Environmental Project Manager | The Work

The Senior Environmental Project Manager will report to senior leadership. This position combines understanding of scientific principles and regulatory requirements to gather and analyze information, write and review reports, supervise fieldwork, supervise sampling and drilling contractors, selling the organization's services and products within a 150-mile radius of the Omaha area, providing ongoing support to our field services department, and general technical reporting activities. A Senior Project Manager operates with an "all-hands-on-deck" mentality to ensure client satisfaction and a high level of quality in completion of assigned projects.

Senior Environmental Project Manager | Position Summary


This position combines understanding of scientific principles and regulatory requirements to gather and analyze information, write and review reports, supervise fieldwork, supervise sampling and drilling contractors, selling the organization's services and products within a 150-mile radius of the Omaha area, providing ongoing support to our field services department, and general technical reporting activities. Senior Environmental Project Manager | Essential Functions

  • Develop strategic sales plan to advance the Environmental Works brand, grow the new clientele base, maintain, and increase revenue streams from existing EWI customers.
  • Assists project managers and operations managers with organizational skills, account strategies, territory planning and administrative responsibilities to ensure a high level of client/customer satisfaction is maintained.
  • Develops and increases sales revenue to meet assigned targets.
  • Be actively involved in a new reseller's sales orientation and sales training programs.
  • Acts as a resource to PMs and OMs in contract opportunities and proposals.
  • Assists the company employees with contract negotiations, closing the sale and developing marketing plans for contract accounts.
  • Assists with the planning of sales exhibits.
  • Attends trade shows.
  • Participates in education and training conferences on selling and marketing programs.
  • Coordinates and assists in leading sales meetings to include site selection and agenda preparation.
  • Keeps informed of new products, services, and other general information of interest to customers.
  • Checks on competitive activity and develops new methods of attaining PMs/OMs and assisting PMs/OMs in attaining new accounts.
  • Troubleshoots problems regarding services provided.
  • Answers questions from PMs/OMs and handles complaints.
  • Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
  • Initially, this position will involve complete management of projects including initial scoping, budget development, work plan development, oversight of field activities, reporting, communication with client and regulators, and understanding of objectives to achieve project closure.
  • Author proposals and cost estimates.
  • Properly complete paperwork to document field activities
  • Serve as a leader during field activities with junior scientists/technicians.
  • Familiarize yourself with the management of samples, paperwork, and responsible use of scientific instruments.
  • Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
  • With support of EWI staff, plan, direct, and oversee investigation/remediation activities.
  • Request information from various governmental and regulatory organizations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Effectively and professionally interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
  • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to multi-task.

Senior Environmental Project Manager | Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
  • Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Senior Environmental Project Manager | Required Education and Experience
  • Three (3) years of field or environmental sales experience.
  • For insurability purposes a valid Driver's License is required.
  • Five (5) years project management experience required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science or related field required.

Senior Environmental Project Manager | Preferred Experience and Education
  • Advanced training in recent client management and sales techniques.
  • Experience selling industrial work (i.e. - hydro blast, hydro excavation, tank cleaning, waste management, heavy equipment, etc.).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintenance mechanical and electronic systems, including pumps, remediation systems, and monitoring equipment.
  • Superior research and technical writing skills are required with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret a variety of maps and aerial photography.
  • Capable of managing deadline-driven projects and workload.
  • Ability to understand and interpret regulatory guidelines.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.

Senior Environmental Project Manager | Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role may require site visits, which may lead to exposure to harsh conditions such as: dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures for long periods of time.
