Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Biology

A well-funded new start-up is looking for a self-motivated and intellectually curious Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate to help discover a new generation of small molecule cancer therapeutics. The ideal candidate is an expert lab-based in vitro biologist who thrives on rigorous experimentation and is a consummate team player. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a diverse drug discovery team, with ample opportunity to progress their career development in drug discovery.

Job Responsibilities:

· Work alongside Senior Scientists to design and execute in vitro biology experiments that support preclinical drug discovery including disease modeling, target identification and validation, illuminating pathway biology, and identifying resistance mechanisms.

· Independently develop and execute quantitative assays (ELISAs, cell proliferation assays, etc.) to support compound progression.

· Proactively review literature to bring in newest scientific findings, ideas, and methods/technologies for discovery research.

· Interpret, summarize and present research findings in internal scientific meetings as part of our collaborative learning culture.

· Actively participate in and partner with multidisciplinary drug discovery teams.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

· BS in Cell and/or Molecular Biology, Genetics or similar specialty, plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in an industry or academic setting, highly recommended by colleagues and/or supervisors.

· Exceptional cell biology skills with deep experience in mammalian tissue culture and standard molecular techniques (western blotting, ELISAs, PCR).

· Experience with all or some of the following: various methods for gene delivery including transfection, transduction, and electroporation; CRISPR-guided gene editing; siRNA, lentiviral shRNA, and CRISPR-mediated gene knockdown; RNA-seq; flow cytometry.

· Ability to work within a dynamic, matrixed environment.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

· Experience with chemical biology or in vivo biology a plus.
