Molecular Biologist

OVERVIEW:This position will actively support molecular techniques in a lab that, using model organisms, focuses on using gene therapy to address degeneration of patient vision. The laboratory technologist will be responsible for activities related to collecting, receiving, and processing specimens for testing in adherence to documented procedures. The analyst will prepare and evaluate samples using aseptic technique to ensure sample integrity.
This position will be scheduled for 40 hours per week. The schedule will be Monday-Friday with moderate flexibility to perform work outside of the typical 9-5 shift.RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receive samples and prepare them for analysis
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of procedures performed
• Monitor the inventory of lab supplies
• Confer with scientists and engineers to conduct analysis of results
• Complete all testing within desired timeline
• Maintain data integrity and compliance with all SOPs & Procedures
• Ensure safety of laboratory operations
• Operate instruments/equipment according to protocols
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed to maintain laboratory operations

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry or other related discipline required
• 1+ years of PCR experience
• Familiarity with Immunohistochemistry, Western Blots, Elisa, and other molecular techniques
• Familiarity with following procedures
• Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document results
• Knowledge of aseptic technique
• Good interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Immunohistochemistry staining experience is preferred
