EHS Coordinator, Burlingame California Corporate Office.

A full-time position is available in our Burlingame, California headquarters for an EHS Coordinator in our Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Department.

Garratt-Callahan, (www.garrattcallahan.com), is a National Industrial Water Treatment Chemical Company operating since 1904. Our headquarters is located in Burlingame, California near the San Francisco Airport. We have 5 chemical manufacturing plants in the continental United States. And we have a sales force in the 48 contiguous states, Alaska and the Caribbean.

Some of the Duties and Responsibilities of the EHS Coordinator:

Under the direction of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, maintenance and administration of environmental, safety and health programs for the Garratt-Callahan Company.

Advise employees and management on minimizing and eliminating workplace risks.

Establish, prepare, implement, revise, and maintain policies and procedures to meet current and known future environmental, safety and health requirements.

Create, implement, and continually update safety training. Develop and maintain resource information. Provide regular safety training to employees in partnership with team leaders and managers on all shifts. Update all safety manuals, orientation programs, and safety guidelines. Assist or conduct new employee safety orientations.

Prepare and distribute safety communications. Conduct job safety analyses and risk assessments to develop safe work procedures.

Compile data to assess existing processes and practices; determine severity and frequency of problems; identify needs and solutions. Design and implement special programs to correct adverse safety performance trends.

Identify safety awareness aspects and establish programs as necessary to train employees.

Health and Safety requirements. Assist in the continual environmental audit schedule to maintain company property in a safe and healthy, environmentally compliant condition. Interpret state and federal regulations and standards, follow company policies and safety procedures.

Plans, directs, and implements organization of chemical regulatory compliance programs to ensure compliance standards by performing the following duties personally. Gather data, review permits, and interpret data. Other duties may also be assigned.

Creates, revises and maintains all Garratt-Callahan product and reagent labels and Safety Data Sheets.

Creates, revises and maintains all product registrations and/or certifications with agencies such as the EPA, NSF, FDA, USDA, and other relevant agencies.

Prepare and submit product registration documentation for technical and formulated products assuring that submitted information conforms to relevant regulatory guidelines.

Ensure legal documentation requirements are met and related activities are coordinated.

Research sources of Regulatory information.

Conduct audits for chemical compliance and initiate corrective action programs to ensure performance to regulatory compliance programs.

Salary is $70,000 to $85,000, depending upon qualifications. Benefits available include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401k.

Some travel required.

A successful candidate will have:

A Bachelor's degree in the field is required. Work or Intern experience in the Environmental and Industrial Chemical safety industry is helpful. You must have strong verbal and written skills, and strong computer skills.

Regulatory experience is a plus. 40 hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus. First aid / CPR certification a plus. DOT HM training completion a plus.
