Job Description

Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories, a nationally recognized laboratory, is searching for a Molecular Biology Research Associate Team Lead to support our Professional Scientific Services group in South San Francisco, CA.

Molecular Biology Research Associate Team Lead responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Supervisory Componenet (20%):
  • Lead and manage up to nine team members
  • Create and drive a positive, inclusive, success-oriented, high performing team
  • Track and monitor team performance using internal and external metrics
  • Implement employee development opportunities including career growth, technical growth, leadership growth, and facilitate peer-to-peer cross training
  • Identify and resolve service and personnel problems in a timely manner
  • Escalate service and personnel problems, as needed
  • Timecard approvals, PTO approvals, and other related administrative tasks
  • Collaborate with and report to area leadership

Technical Component (80%):
  • RNA/DNA isolation from various tissues/cells from human, non-human primate and rodents
  • Library prep and QC of samples for use with NGS platforms
  • NGS sequencing Illumina MiSeq and Novaseq platforms
  • Presenting relevant data and results
  • Comply with safety rules and regulations
  • Analysis of data using Microsoft Excel or similar programs
  • Document, Author, and Review notebooks or technical reports

The Ideal Candidate Would Possess
  • Some Experience with RNA/DNA QC platforms such as the Fragment analyzer, Agilent Bioanalyzer or Tapestation
  • Some experience with liquid automation for sample RNA/DNA isolation and NGS library prep
  • Some experience with NGS analysis data visualization software such as Cell Ranger, Partek, or BioTuring
  • Some experience with RT-qPCR methods and platforms
  • Familiarity with computer software: Illumina BaseSpace, Omicsoft, TIBCO Spotfire, Graphpad Prism, Ingenuity Pathway Analysis, Vector NTI, Sequencher
  • A passion for delivering quality service and internally motivated to learn and grow
  • Strong organization, scientific, computational, communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular & cell biology, chemistry, life sciences, or other related degree concentration
  • At least 3 years related laboratory experience
  • Familiarity and troubleshooting capability with NGS platforms, specifically Illumina, MiSeq and Novaseq
