Looking for a Development Chemist position with a wide range of experience to work in a fast paced environment. This position involves decision making in the areas of analytical chemistry, equipment maintenance, data quality, and workflow. Duties include analysis of a wide variety of samples following establish methods or standards, and supporting the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.

Experience with instrumentation/equipment and software, such as gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (GC/MS), high performance liquid chromatography/mass spectroscopy (HPLC/MS), and Inductively coupled plasma/mass spectrometry (ICP/MS). (Ideal candidate needs to have experience with least one of these instruments.)

Education and Work Experience:
  • A bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field
  • Experience with general laboratory equipment
  • Experience working in an environmental lab, biopharma lab, or extractables and leachables lab is highly preferred
  • 1-3 years of work experience in High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and/or Gas Chromatography
  • Preferred - Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) related testing
  • Preferred - LC/MS or ICP/MS experience

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs assigned analysis of customer samples
  • Reviews raw data, procedures, controls, and final reports for completion and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoots and improves existing methods and procedures and instrument hardware and software problems, and collaborates on the best course of action to remedy problems
  • Reviews general data quality to determine where changes to methods or procedures could improve quality and throughput
  • Evaluates test results for suitability and designates acceptability
  • Communicates regularly with customers, providing consultation and assistance with testing needs. Works to meet and exceed customer expectation.
  • Explore new scientific methods and assists in method development

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and lab equipment including but not limited to, computers, keyboards, computer mouse, telephones, photocopiers, file cabinets, microscopes, micropipettes, pipette aids and various hand tools.

The possibility exists for exposure to biological and chemical hazards, exposure to carcinogenic compounds and other environmental aspects which may be considered unfavorable. Employees are expected to follow Biosafety and Chemical Hygiene policies, practices and procedures.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are a representation of those that must be met to perform the essential job functions:
  • Required to sit 15% of the day, stand and traverse 75% of the day to various office and lab locations and 10% of the day working at a computer.
  • Bending, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing.
  • Ability to have full body movement required.
  • Occasional push and pull tasks with one or both hands.
  • Must be able to work while wearing personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, face shields, gloves, lab coats and personal protective equipment deemed necessary to protect testing and to protect employees from various solutions, wastes, etc.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
