POSITION SUMMARY:

Principal coordinator for laboratory testing and methodology support for the manufacturing site. Develops, implements, and coordinates the quality control testing, calibration, maintenance and staffing for the site laboratory. Maintains the quality control documentation (records and policies) to support the development, implementation, maintenance and control of the site quality control programs. Supports and oversees assigned activities for site and corporate projects as assigned by Director of Quality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensures quality control data is accurate, precise and reproducible.
  • Provide development, implementation, review and maintenance of the quality control system, including lab testing, in process testing, compliance testing and proficiency testing.
  • Train lab technicians on test methodology and oversee staffing needs for all shifts
  • Provide troubleshooting and support for lab and in process testing and instrumentation
  • Conduct any certification or as needed environmental testing
  • Perform data trend analysis
  • Oversee a review of food/feed safety fundamentals and the risk-based plans when any change undertaken at the site could impact either system.
  • Communicate all information essential to relevant personnel in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the lab is kept tidy, organized, and fully stocked
  • Provides technical support to manufacturing processes
  • Ensure the lab is kept in a safe and operable condition including ensuring waste and chemicals are stored and handled in the correct manner.
  • Ensure all testing methodology procedures are reviewed and kept current.
  • As required, assist site quality manager or quality assurance supervisor in the investigation of any quality-related incidents and customer complaints with the goal of identifying root cause(s) and corrective/preventative actions relevant to the quality lab.
  • As required, assist site quality manager in completion of customer questionnaires and audits.
  • Follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and equipment safeguards. Works to advance and promote the safety culture of the site.
  • Sustains and supports site environmental monitoring program through aseptic swabbing techniques
  • Serves as back-up to the site quality manager where applicable
  • Support R&D as required and perform for-cause analytical requests by Operations.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in applicable science field required. Chemistry discipline preferred
  • Five years of related analytical experience in an industrial setting with demonstrated supervisory capabilities preferred.
  • Experience in HPLC and GC analyses are preferred.
  • Familiarization with standardized methods (AOAC, USP, FCC, etc.) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with LCMS or GCMS is a bonus.
