Position Overview:

The Bioanalytics Characterization group, part of the Global CMC Development organization located in Framingham, Massachusetts, is seeking a scientist to join the team. The successful candidate will utilize advanced bioanalytical tools with a focus on biophysical and chromatography-based techniques to characterize a variety of biotherapeutics at all stages of development to enable critical decision-making and ensure the successful development of new drugs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform detailed biophysical characterization analyses in support of batch release, IND enabling studies, forced degradation and comparability studies.
  • Collaborate with group members and cross-functional teams to support structure-function studies.
  • Evaluate and develop new biophysical technologies to streamline and improve the efficiency of the characterization workflows and to solve problems encountered during drug development.
  • Author technical reports, study protocols and manuscripts for publication; present at internal and external meetings and conferences.
  • Operate and maintain instruments.


Basic Qualifications:
  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline, or a master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of industry experience, or a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of industry experience.
  • Strong track record of independent and in-depth biophysical characterization of proteins and/or mAbs using techniques such as Circular Dichroism, DLS, Fluorescence, DSC and AUC.
  • Highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and inter-personal skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with protein separation techniques, such as Reverse Phase, SEC and Ion-Exchange chromatography.
