Job Description
JOB SUMMARY

The Materials Laboratory Technician supports polymer research, conducts lab work, develops formulations, builds prototypes, operates test equipment, and performs analytical tests. The R&D Technician makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets and reports results to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform a variety of duties in the polymer and material research lab.
  • Assist in the development of novel polymers, formulations, and application technologies.
  • Perform tests, analyze data, and write reports.
  • Build or assemble prototypes for polymer processing.
  • Work on schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Develop processing instructions.
  • Work closely with internal teams to develop methods and procedures.
  • Conduct experiments to qualify new products.
  • Perform analytical testing and summarize data.
  • Maintain lab instruments.
  • Maintain schedules for projects and project milestones.
  • Champion laboratory safety, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of hands-on R&D Technician work in a science discipline or related field.
  • 3+ years of lab and scale-up experience.
  • Working knowledge of materials and processing.
  • Experience with polymer extrusion and injection molding.
  • Familiarity with analytical instruments: viscosity, microscopy, rheology, DSC, TGA, and tensile testing.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • A passion for science, chemistry, and problem-solving.
  • Familiar with statistical data analysis.
  • Good computer skills for data entry and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Creativity, technical knowledge, and a keen interest in learning from others.
