Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated, creative and self-driven Research Associate to join our Enzyme Engineering Team. As an early hire, you will play an integral role in developing the scientific direction and culture of our company. The ideal candidate will be technically savvy with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to devise creative solutions to experimental challenges. This hire will be responsible for assisting with cutting edge enzyme engineering and characterization campaigns and will play a significant role in developing our therapeutic enzymes.

Required Experience and Skills
  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or a related discipline
  • Rigorous and detail-oriented experimentalist
  • Technical proficiency with core molecular biology and protein expression and purification techniques
  • Ideally (but not essential) you will have experience with enzymology or protein engineering projects ( e . g ., enzyme assays, substrate profiling, kinetics, point mutations, directed evolution)
  • Ability to work with teams in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting


Core responsibilities
  • Work on one or more in-house enzyme engineering projects
  • Apply directed evolution and rational enzyme design methods
  • Plan and execute assays to characterize novel enzyme activities
  • Record experimental data and communicate results to the team
