Peraton is seeking an experienced Operations Research Systems Analyst / Data Scientist for its' Federal Strategic Cyber program located in Arlington, VA.

Role & Purpose:
  • You will analyze actual and predictable interacting operational activities of business to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decision making through the application of logic and scientific or economic disciplines and techniques.
  • Devise modeling and measuring techniques; utilize mathematics, statistical methods, engineering methods, operational mathematics techniques (linear programming, game theory, probability theory, symbolic language, etc.), and other principles and laws of scientific and economic disciplines.
  • Provide analytic, data visualization, and modeling and simulation expertise to select and cleanse data, analyze and produce visualizations to interpret date, and conduct modeling and simulation of the transportation enterprise to provide decision support analysis for senior leaders in policy and course of action development and decision processes.
  • Identify and assess current and emerging trends for senior leadership.

In this role as the Operations Research Systems Analyst / Data Scientist, you will perform in the following capacities:
  • Serve in an advisory function that utilizes a structured approach to problem solving.
  • Perform the rigorous process of scientific inquiry and analysis applicable to unique or recurring problems that confront decision makers.
  • Systematic examination and development of alternative courses of action to define and clarify the advantages and disadvantages of available choices.
  • Work with a variety of both structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Communicate findings to a non-technical audience.
  • Develop Methods and Problem Solving Work Assessments across disciplinary boundaries.
  • Develop multidisciplinary solutions to complex problems.
  • Work with and deal with a variety of broad issues, subject matter areas, and problems.
  • Need to have experience in the Operations Research Analysis Process or Data Science processes to include working within the three key concepts areas systems, relationships, and models which is important in understanding the analytical process involved in problem solving and the four phases: problem definition, model development, hypothesis testing and investigation, and predictions/explanations.

Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Computer Science, Physics, Quantitative Social Sciences or similar fields with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or a Masters degree and minimum of 3 years relevant experience, or a PhD.
  • U.S. citizenship and a DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Must enjoy working in a team environment with frequent customer contact and have excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical, quantitative reasoning, mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Have the ability to gather data from variety of sources and conduct efficient data analysis of modeling and simulation results.
  • Ability to produce fundamental research results and objectives with minimal technical supervision
  • Able to manage multiple tasks with competing timelines and deliverables.
  • Lead study efforts and projects.
