About Riverhouse Children's Center

Riverhouse Children's Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit child development center providing early education services for children from six weeks through five years old. Riverhouse has been serving the families of Durango and La Plata County since 2004. Our Mission is to build a foundation for a lifetime of success through quality early childhood education. Position Summary

The Program Director will serve as a mentor coach to advance the qualifications of staff as well as maintain records, policies, and procedures to ensure Riverhouse Children's Center is exceeding state and local licensing requirements.?This leadership role will invest time and energy in teachers, and impact the life of children. This role requires organization, dedication, flexibility, and a love of watching young minds grow and explore!

DUTIES

General Administrative?
  • Adhere that the Mission and Vision will serve as the guiding template in the ongoing management, growth and development of Riverhouse Children's Center.
  • Manage Riverhouse's program according to the organizational policies, standards, and procedures. Communicate policies and practices effectively to staff and families and ensure that they are being followed.
  • Ensure that all teachers are following rules set forth by the State of Colorado, Health Department, and rating agencies.
  • Work with and maintain positive relationships with parents, teachers, and early childhood education agencies.
  • Develop and implement program goals and objectives that have been set with the Executive Director.?
  • Support teachers with professional development, classroom arrangement, and child development.
  • Update and maintain records for teachers and all children enrolled at Riverhouse Children's Center.?Maintain personnel files with appropriate documentation and certifications. Maintain updated staff files and track each Teacher's professional development requirements.
  • Maintain good communication with the Executive Director: regular updates on staff performance, issues, and policy violations; assist with delegated tasks.
  • Communicate any potential claims to the Executive Director, i.e.; workman's comp, allegations, policy violations, or any information deemed potentially negative impact to Riverhouse.

Human Resources & Staff Management
  • The Program Director will work to advance the professional development of Riverhouse staff.?Create relevant early childhood education training and professional development for monthly staff meetings and teacher workdays.
  • Observe all classrooms on a daily basis to ensure high quality early childhood education standards are being met.
  • Develop a plan of action and use effective strategies to coach staff that need improvement and support. Improvement plans, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc.?
  • Evaluate all staff on an ongoing basis through monthly classroom observations and annual reviews. Recommended rate increases to be approved by the Executive Director.

Curriculum Supervision and Implementation
  • Collaborate with outside resources to support and meet the needs of each individual child. (IEP meetings, 9R transitional meetings, Community Connections,?ChildFind, etc.,)
  • Assist in understanding and overseeing teachers on all aspects of Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold.
  • Review, provide feedback, and monitor the implementation of weekly lesson plans to ensure learning opportunities that meet or exceed ECE goals are being offered.?

Accounting and Bookkeeping
  • Maintain payroll. Edit, verify, and submit changes; communicate any employee status changes. Maintain adequate staffing with least budgetary impact, minimizing overtime.
  • Maintain child attendance and billing system; process payments and follow-up on unpaid accounts.?
  • Prepare monthly reports for bookkeeper - recording and reconciliation of tuition, CCCAP, CPP, and subsidies.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements
  • All applicants must have or be in the process of receiving appropriate state licensure/certification for a large center
  • Willingness to obtain appropriate CPR and first aid certifications.
  • Willingness to obtain Coaching Credential issued through the Colorado Coaching Consortium.
  • Experience in a leadership role, managing and developing staff; non-profit experience preferred.
  • Experience utilizing ProCare or similar childcare management software is desired.
  • Experience utilizing Excel and other Microsoft Office programs is desired.
  • Strong understanding of the rules and regulations of the Colorado Office of Early Childhood and Colorado Shines.
