Job Description

Job Summary: The Technical Manager is primarily responsible for the development and execution of analytical methods within the assigned area of responsibility. Additionally, the technical manager is responsible for the qualification and maintenance of the equipment and instruments associated with those methods.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Write and execute method validation and verification protocols and reports associated with new manual and instrument based microbiological methods.
  • Develop, write, review, and approve analytical methods that are scientifically sound to be used in the area of responsibility.
  • Review and evaluate test data generated within assigned area of responsibility for technical accuracy and compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform analysis and record test data in associated logbooks or bench records and enter the results into a Laboratory Information Management System (eLIMS) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in the performance and provide evaluation of analytical methods to determine the quality and accuracy of data and report values.
  • Establish and implement procedures to ensure that assigned equipment is properly qualified, calibrated, cleaned, and adequate for the testing performed. This includes maintaining equipment operating instructions, manuals, and required logbooks.
  • Communicate and discuss methods, results and questions with client service personnel to ensure that clients receive accurate results, and fast turnaround time consistent with superior analytical testing.
  • Adhere to appropriate quality measures, which meet or exceed the standards set by ISO 17025, FDA GMPs, and company requirements.
  • Remain current on technical, industry and business advancements.
  • Support the laboratory supervisor and site leader in conducting effective and productive team meetings
  • Adhere to, and ensure that staff adheres to, pertinent health, safety, and environmental regulations relative to department; maintain and assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by company management.

Education/Experience Requirements: A Bachelor of Science degree with at least 5 years' experience working in a Microbiology laboratory.

Additional Requirements & Skills
  • Three years of expanded laboratory experience to include development and review of new testing protocols.
  • Goal oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organization
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and make sound independent decisions
  • High level of proficiency with PC based software programs
