Integrated Genetics, part of LabCorp, is hiring a Technologist/Senior Technologist to join its Quality Control (QC) Department in Santa Fe, NM. The Quality Control Department performs functions that are critical to cytogenetics testing. This department produces and distributes cell culture media that is used daily in prenatal and oncology cytogenetics testing as well as for transporting client samples to the laboratories. In addition, the Quality Control department sequesters, maintains, and tests lot reserves of key reagents needed in cytogenetics testing for the laboratories

The schedule for the position will be: Monday --Friday, 8am-4:30pm.

Responsibilities:
  • Media production, sterility testing, and release of cytogenetic media and reagents
  • Tissue culture and cryopreservation of cells
  • Test a variety of media and reagents utilizing cytogenetic processes
  • Analysis of cells using microscopy and a computer imaging system
  • Stock laboratory with prepared reagents, supplies, and performs routine housekeeping
  • Facilitate the calibration of pipettes, thermometers, and other instruments
  • Understand QC concepts, identify problems and implement corrective action
  • Perform, monitor, and maintain daily QA/QC logs
  • Monitor usage of reagents and supplies in order to maintain inventory
  • Preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Perform general lab support duties to include washing and sterilization of glassware
Requirements
  • BS/BA in Biology, Chemistry or related biological science
  • 2-4 years of experience in a diagnostics clinical laboratory at the Technologist level
  • Detail oriented with analytical ability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skis
  • Knowledge of and ability to use MS Word and Excel
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, prioritize and multitask
  • A high level of self-motivation
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part a team
  • Flexibility in scheduling, may require both weekend and overtime hours
