Scorpion Therapeutics' mission is to serve oncology patients by discovering and developing best-in-class and first-in-class, small molecule cancer medicines that address large patient segments with significant unmet medical needs. To accomplish this mission, we are building a highly collaborative team focused on the pursuit of novel approaches to small molecule drug discovery. This approach relies upon dynamic collaboration between cancer biology, proteomics, informatics, structural biology and medicinal chemistry - with the ultimate goal of realizing the full potential of targeted/precision oncology.

We are seeking a highly motivated Computational Biologist to join our Data Science team in San Francisco, CA. This role will provide exposure to multiple phases of drug discovery and development, with a mission to leverage information-rich datasets to validate targets, elucidate mechanism of action, and inform patient selection strategy. The successful candidate will interface closely with colleagues across the company, and be a key contributor on a diverse, multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and evaluate novel therapeutic targets through mining large -omics datasets
  • Analyze data from high-throughput molecular assays including RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and CRISPR screens
  • Work in close collaboration with scientists from target identification and validation group contributing to experimental design
  • Provide interpretation and analysis of results and present findings in cross-functional project team meetings
  • Maintain excellent communication across internal and external team members


Professional Experience/Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or other quantitative field plus 2 years of experience
  • Strong coding skills, fluency in using R or Python for complex data analysis
  • Experience in analysis of RNA-seq, WES and WGS data
  • Strong understanding of relevant concepts in cancer biology and molecular biology
  • Understanding of current best-practices for high-throughput genomics/molecular data analyses and their underlying statistical principles
  • Experience in network/pathway mapping and integration of orthogonal omics datasets
  • Experience with AWS compute environment is highly preferred
  • Experience with Nextflow DSL is a plus
  • Experience with R-Shiny/data visualization is a plus
  • A strong record of achievement, including publications in high-impact journals
  • Integrity, scientific rigor and commitment to teamwork
