No VP Area Academic Affairs Department 00018 - Utah Museum of Natl Hist Oper Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range 13.00 - 16.00 Close Date Job Summary NHMU Program Facilitators are responsible for the instruction of elementary aged children in a wide variety of STEM/STEAM subjects. Facilitators are provided with curricula, supplies, support staff, and training. A successful candidate for this position has strong problem-solving and analytical skills and will be able to provide additional lessons and activities as needed to create an engaging, well-paced experience for all participants. Responsibilities * Attends all trainings provided by the Museum; * Reviews curricula prior to program and provides feedback for assigned programs; * Prepares supplies, sets up and cleans up classroom/lap spaces; * Greets participants; * Facilitates program activities in a safe, exciting, and engaging manner; * Oversees program support staff, making sure they know what is expected of them; * Works with supply staff to ensure maintenance of equipment and materials; * Delivers extraordinary customer service to all program participants and staff; * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Three years experience as a classroom assistant in a related academic area, or equivalency; knowledge and understanding of a variety of teaching methods in order to adjust activities/training session to include participants of different ages; a thorough knowledge of related academic subjects in order to participate in developing classroom activities/programs; and demonstrated knowledge of teaching methods and communication skills to conduct educational activities and/or training sessions in a clear and concise manner required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required. Preferences * Experience leading STEM/STEAM activities/experiences, as well as inquiry-based instruction and techniques; * Is able to adjust activities to include participants of all learning styles and abilities; * Has a thorough knowledge of STEM/STEAM subjects; * Strong instructional and classroom management skills; * Excellent communication and organizational skills; * Second language proficiency, particularly in Spanish, preferred.
