Bristol Environmental Solutions, LLC is seeking a qualified Field Chemist in either our San Antonio, TX or Golden, CO location. The Field Chemist will perform data verification and interpretation; prepare planning documents and reports as related to analytical facets of projects; be familiar with sampling of soil, surface water, groundwater, air, and sediment; aid project managers in procurement, management, and interpretation of analytical services/data; monitor quality of data generated by laboratories and ensure that all required documentation is received.

Major Responsibilities
  • Perform Field Investigation Activities - Identifying equipment needed for field activities; field screening and collecting environmental samples including soil, groundwater, air, sediment and surface water samples for field screening and laboratory analysis; site reconnaissance, slug testing, gauging and product removal; performing work in accordance with local and federal laws, and in a safe manner.
  • Must have a working knowledge of SW846 analytical test methods, and laboratory quality control processes.
  • Prepares Planning Documents and Reports - assist in the preparation of sampling and analysis plans and reports; prepares project Quality Assurance Project Plans determine appropriate analytical test method for project data quality objectives; tabulate data and determine data quality flagging to be applied; describe and discuss data quality issues with respect to project data quality objectives.
  • Procures and Manages Analytical Laboratory Services - request and evaluate laboratory quotes; order sampling containers and supplies; review, approve for payment, and manage analytical data packages and electronic data deliverables.
  • Interprets analytical results - Identify any anomalies in the analytical results and convey to the project team the impact of these results to project goals.
  • Develops and prepares mobile laboratory procedures, trains personnel and operates mobile laboratory equipment at a project site.
Requirements Minimum Education/Experience
  • Degree in Chemistry
  • Recent experience in analytical lab practices
  • Experience collecting environmental samples (soil, water, groundwater)
  • Experience working on DOD USACE projects.
  • Experience with electronic deliverables (COELT, SEDD, ERPIMS, etc.) and performing data quality analysis for usability determination in accordance with State and EPA methods
Required Knowledge or Skills
  • Must be willing to work in remote locations for up to 6 weeks at a time.
  • Laboratory and/or data verification and interpretation experience.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically and creatively, draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to verify labs are compliant with current DoD/ELAP requirements.
  • Basic computer skills including Excel, Word, Access.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to assist and communicate with staff and project managers.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and meet deadlines, and work well under stress.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
  • Experience with field laboratory and field screening techniques.
  • Knowledge of state and federal agency chemical data requirements.
  • Knowledge of mobile laboratory procedures and operations.
Preferred Knowledge or Skills
  • Current HAZWOPER certification.
  • Analytical laboratory experience (hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation)
  • Familiarity with multi-incremental sampling (MI); Experience sampling and analysis plans for DOD projects
