Your work will have real-world impact, and you'll be supported in achieving your career goals. **Staff Bioinformatics Scientist, Mass Spectrometry** **Location/Division Specific Information** Austin, TX | Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division **How will you make an impact?** + As a bioinformatics scientist / engineer developing applications related to Clinical, Toxicology, Food Safety, Forensics, Medical Device and various other domains, you will play a key role in developing, improving, and expanding analysis solutions for next-generation quantitation products. + Primary responsibilities will include programming (C#, Python), developing algorithms and software, building models, and analyzing data for analysis of Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry data. + Join a multi-disciplinary team, where we will develop and launch applications to advance research across a wide range of scientific fields. + We will prototype, improve, develop, optimize, perform training and documentation, and validate algorithms and analysis software to analyze data from instruments for a wide range of quantitative and qualitative scientific applications. + Intensively analyze data, troubleshoot, draw conclusions, and visualize, document, and present their conclusions. + We operate in diverse environment composed of project teams and software teams, and as a team we work in a diverse, fast paced, complex setting to hard deliverables. + Critical thinking, determination to succeed, focus on quality and innovation, the willingness and courage to push the boundaries on the possible and the drive to deliver are key attributes! **What will you do?** + Maintain, develop, optimize, troubleshoot, extend, validate, test, provide training, and document production-level software using a combination of C#, Python, and some C++ Work in compliance with legislation + Support applications in the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry domain + Analyze and develop quantitative and qualitative workflows. Design and Develop algorithms and services that transform, evaluate, and integrate mass spectrometry data and associated meta data to identify the m/z signatures of molecules or molecular fragments and provide deeper insights. + Work closely with other non-software research scientists to implement and contribute to patentable ideas. Advances the group's capability by in-depth research, innovation, and continuous improvement. + Work with field support in troubleshooting and reproducing customer issues, when required. **How will you get here?** **Education** + Masters degree or PhD in scientific fields like Bioinformatics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Biochemistry or Computer Science. **Experience** + A minimum of 2 years relevant experience working with analytical instrument data sets either in industry or in an academic lab as a Post-Doctoral fellow. + Expertise with analyzing large, complex data sets + Experience working in an FDA regulated / CLIA / GLP development environment preferred. + Prior experience working with analytical devices is a preferred but not mandatory requirement. **Knowledge, Skills, Abilities** + Strong software design skills and significant knowledge of one or more programming languages C#, C++, Python, Go, Scala. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to review and evaluate writing of others. + In-depth knowledge of data structures and basic computing algorithms + Background in algorithms for data analysis and data manipulation of data sets. **ACCESSIBILITY/DISABILITY ACCESS** Job Seekers with a Disability: Thermo Fisher Scientific offers accessibility service for job seekers requiring accommodations in the job application process.
