As a strategic leader you will be charged with developing and overseeing the clinical value strategy for the nation's largest Medicare Advantage plan. Our plans include over 7 million members and revenues exceeding $90 billion per year. Clinical Value Program Teams are responsible for the full lifecycle of clinical value including analytics and ideation, design and sourcing, implementation, and governance, and continuous improvement. In addition to their own execution, Clinical Value program teams are responsible to manage key relationships, including Regional and HP relationships, Health Care Economics collaboration, Value Creation partnership, and other material relationships in UHC and Optum. You will serve as a key team member, reporting to the Director of Clinical Value Operations, who works closely with the Chief Medical Officer and SVP of Clinical Value to achieve consumer and provider experience, health outcome and financial targets, as well as compliance with all regulatory requirements and achievement of quality goals. You will execute on existing business goals and expand new business opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Data Collection and Analysis
    • Maintains a cadence of regularly reviewing internal and external data and trends to identify areas of risk and/or opportunity, in partnership with HCE and others
    • Collects information, input, data and subject matter expertise relevant to best practices
    • Support and manage relationships with key ideation partners, such as UCS Value Creation and other teams
    • Periodically supports/performs benchmarking studies to identify opportunities
    • Conducts analysis of data metrics, information, and reports and shares regular insights across broader clinical team
    • Perform, assist with, or oversee audits (clinical programs, processes, financial, quality)
  • Program/ Process Evaluation
    • Identify opportunities to improve operational and reporting efficiencies across multiple clinical strategy teams
    • Use a process driven approach to identify root cause and process improvement opportunities at a national and local market level
    • Communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders regarding findings and recommendations
    • Prepare reports and documentation and facilitate meetings to share findings
  • Implementation
    • Assist with creation of overall process framework to help clinical channels operate efficiently and promote cross- team collaboration
    • Supports Clinical Value Operations team and broader Clinical Value strategy teams to work define specific program/process requirements and expectations with selected partners to fully charter new/adjusted program implementation plans including detailed objectives (KPIs), key milestone dates, scope, roles and responsibilities, etc
    • Supports new/adjusted process implementation actively, quickly working through obstacles, escalating barriers, enabling decisions
    • Develop processes, tools, reports and communication channels to track clinical initiatives and share best practices
    • Obtain input and feedback from stakeholders during process/program development
    • Leverage technology to develop and deliver presentations and serve as subject matter expert to train other on process or program components
  • Organizational Alignment
    • Maintains and supports relationships with key partners and stakeholders including Health Care Economics, UCS Value Creation, Optum ECS, Optum MBM, and others
    • Maintains and supports relationships with key clinical stakeholders, including regional and market CEOs, CMOs, Stars teams, Compliance and more

Required Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree
  • 2+ years of healthcare or related industry experience with progressive career accomplishments
  • 2+ years of healthcare or related industry experience
  • 1+ years of PowerPoint experience in creation, production, and presentation
  • 1+ years of Excel modeling experience: experience in writing complex formulas, pivot tables, financial or operational modeling, and chart building
  • Experience within large, matrix organizations with demonstrated business results
  • Operational experience to ground recommendations in clinical and business service workflows


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in management consulting, corporate finance, investing, business development, strategic operations, or new venture development
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Population health and prevention experience
  • Solid analytical skills, ability to distill complex information into key takeaways for executive leadership
  • Ability to quickly interpret information and draw conclusions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Highly collaborative, team player
  • Ability to work in ambiguity and on tight timelines
  • Proven ability to build relationships cross-functionally and lead toward common goals
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to independently produce written communication for executive leaders

  • Ability to synthesize complex information to drive decision-making

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is$64,800 to $116,000. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $71,400 to 127,400. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
