SUMMARY:

Position will lead EIP's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program including, but not limited to, environmental compliance, occupational safety, safety training and awareness, safety culture development and other duties as required to ensure a safe and compliant work place for all EIP locations. Will attain thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations for all EIP sites (i.e. USEPA, OSHA, fire code, etc). Will ensure each location maintains all required permits, training records, logs and documentation required to administer plant wastewater treatment, plating and other hazardous material operations. Will develop a proactive safety culture.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will lead and coordinate EIP's general EH&S program and regulatory compliance requirements.

Ensure that all sites are adhering to their applicable local and federal requirements.

Partner with Plant Management and make recommendations to ensure safety measures and good environmental practices.

Assure that required environmental reports and plans such as annual Toxic Release Inventory, Oil Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC) and discharge monitoring reports are submitted and are readily available for audit inspections.

Maintain AQMD, wastewater Permit by Rule, Storm Water and other required environmental permits.

Maintain compliance with all aspects of hazardous waste regulations.

Control off-site disposal of wastes by establishing waste stream profiles and waste management contracts and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) rules.

Maintain IIPP, Safety Manual and Emergency Contingency Plan. Manage all elements of Hazard Communication regulations to include a labeling system for secondary containers, maintain a list of hazardous substances with corresponding SDS's at all facilities.

Document a formal personal protective equipment (PPE) hazard assessment and enforce appropriate PPE use requirements.

Meet all regulatory obligations of OSHA respiratory protection regulations.

Set up compliance system for chemical safety and chemical storage, fire safety and material handling.

Lead or coordinate accident investigations, maintain OSHA occupational injury and illness forms and workers' compensation records and loss-time history.

Contract or conduct hearing conservation and other industrial hygiene surveys in applicable areas. Implement and conduct evacuation drills.

Where required by regulations, assure training programs are in place.

Ensure Safety Committee effectiveness at all sites.

Conduct in-house inspections of OSHA/health and safety activities and participate in audits by outside agencies.

Provide recommendations to management to resolve issues and improve safe, productive operations.

Work with corporate EHS Management in achieving compliance goals.

Perform other duties as required by management.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Continuous training - Interact with all department personnel to maintain a good rapport overall.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:

Must posses a college degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety or similar, or have the equivalent of 10 years of full time relevant experience.

Well versed with EPA, OSHA, state and local EHS regulatory standard compliance.

Must posses supervisory and organizational skills to implement policies and procedures including personnel training.

High level of verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact at all levels of internal organization, outside contractors and government agencies.
