Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced cell biologist to assist with the small-scale manufacturing, purification and validation of nanoparticles for therapeutics and vaccine discovery programs at Chimeron Bio. This is a hands-on, laboratory-focused role with ability to directly contribute to the discovery of novel therapeutics and vaccines. The ideal candidate will deploy cell culture, transfection, transduction and molecular biology techniques to generate and validate nanoparticles. In addition, the candidate will perform ELISAs, siRNA or overexpression studies to support target validation, work with external vendors on deliverables and present data in team meetings, all with minimal supervision. This position offers strong growth potential, and an opportunity to work on a leading-edge RNA technology in a highly collaborative environment. The candidate will be part of the particle design team and report directly to the team leader.

?Expectations and Responsibilities
  • Design and conduct cell culture-based studies towards the small-scale generation and purification of novel nanoparticles for the various drug and vaccine programs at Chimeron Bio
  • Conduct molecular biology, biochemical and cell-based assays such as RT-PCR, digital PCR, western blot analysis, ELISA and flow cytometry to validate nanoparticles for invitro and invivo target validation and mechanism of action studies.
  • Maintain cell lines specific for particle production and program needs
  • Validate new plasmid design using electroporation and lipid-based transfection methods
  • Conduct siRNA or overexpression studies for validation of target genes/proteins
  • Design, conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data with minimal supervision. Be able to use scientific graphing and statistical software as Graph Pad Prism to compile and share data
  • Maintain accurate electronic notebooks
  • Effectively present results and data in meetings, both internally and with external collaborators
  • The successful candidate must have the ability to accomplish the above tasks in a collaborative manner, with minimal supervision.
  • Stay current with respect to relevant scientific literature and technologies
  • Possess strong organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, self-motivated to learn and develop new skills, and ability to balance multiple simultaneous tasks

Experience and Qualifications
  • BS degree in cell/molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience OR a Masters' Degree with 3 years of relevant experience preferably obtained in an industry setting
  • Conceived, optimized, and ran various biochemical, molecular, and cellular assays including RNA and protein extraction, cDNA generation and RT-PCR, western blotting, ELISA etc.
  • Hands on experience with instruments including RT-PCR & droplet digital PCR (QuantStudio), MSD (Meso Scale Discovery), fluorescence microscope, plate readers (such as Glo-Max) and flow cytometers
  • In-depth knowledge of mammalian cell culture, including maintenance, transfection, transduction and optimizing gene expression
  • Candidate must have experience with the use of graphing and statistical software such as GraphPad Prism
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to be a team player and work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Experience in DNA cloning, plasmid isolation, sequence analysis is a plus
  • Experience with use of Tangential Flow Filtration and HPLC methods is a plus
  • Prior experience in cell and gene therapy is a plus
