Summary

The DNA computing team works collaboratively to translate in silico computing architectures into wet lab methods with synthetic DNA. We are looking for a creative bench scientist to develop these new methods and assays to help realize the world's first DNA storage and computation platform.

Description
  • Develop novel methods to synthesize, sort, modify, and read DNA at scale
  • Collaborate with biology, engineering, analytics, and software teams to design and execute experiments demonstrating computation with molecules of DNA
  • Analyze data, present findings, and make recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Publish peer-reviewed articles and file patents on our team's achievements

Profile
  • PhD or MS in molecular biology, synthetic biology, biophysics, bioengineering, or a related field with at least 2 years of industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in multi-disciplinary technology development with ambitious timelines and deliverables
  • Extensive experience with DNA-based assay development and mastery of molecular biology techniques in his or her "toolbox," such as nucleic acid hybridization, DNA-modifying enzymes, NGS, etc.
  • Expertise in at least one lab automation platform or other type of DNA-interfacing hardware for scaling up processes
  • Comfortable using biophysics, statistics, or modeling to inform wet lab experiments
  • Familiarity with DNA design tools for synthetic biology applications is a plus
  • Creative and proactive problem solver
  • Dependable team player with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Quick learner who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment
