Job Description
We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated research associate to join a team of scientists working towards the discovery of unique anti-cancer compounds for the treatment of targeted patient populations. Role requires prior experience with cell/molecular biology & drug discovery.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Validate hits from high-throughput screens using medium-throughput plate based cellular assays.
Independently perform viability assays, western blotting, and/or flow cytometry/FACS to analyze effect of small molecules on viability and/or reporter expression.
Perform cellular and molecular assays to define mechanism of action for compounds and/or PD/efficacy relationships.
Participate in team drug discovery efforts to select lead candidate molecules and transition into clinical development.
Independently design, interpret, document and present research findings at internal meetings
Requirements
BS/MS in cell/molecular biology, cancer biology or genetics with at least 1 year hands-on experience in drug discovery preferably in a pharmaceutical setting.
Previous work with culture and maintenance of mammalian cell lines, including transfection and transduction techniques, as well as stable cell line generation. Experience working with Incucyte Systems preferred.
Prior experience preparing drug dilutions and performing drug sensitivity experiments and/or establishing target engagement/PD/efficacy relationships.
Experience with molecular biology methods and assays such as molecular cloning, RNA and protein expression approaches (e.g. QPCR, Western blotting, immunoprecipitation).
Ability to maintain timely and detailed experimental records using an electronic lab notebook.
Experience using Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and GraphPad Prism. Spotfire software experience a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to learn a variety of new techniques and technologies.
