Currently we have a Safety and Environmental Specialist role open. This position is responsible for the day-to-day safety and environmental activities in support of a comprehensive safety, health, and environmental program. The Specialist will contribute to a safe and healthy environment through training, guidance, investigation and resolution of safety and environmental issues. Essential functions of the position include:
Job Requirements:
General qualifications for this role:
- Facilitate Safety Steering Committee regular meetings
- Conduct new hire safety and environmental orientation training
- Conduct incident investigation to include root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Conduct periodic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments; approve PPE for distribution through the tool crib; conduct necessary training in the use, care of and selection of PPE
- Coordinate facility fall protection program
- Coordinate industrial truck training and qualification program
- Monitor regular facility safety/environmental inspections and safety/environmental training programs
- Coordinate/conduct industrial hygiene monitoring as needed
- Assist with preparing management reports weekly safety talks, monthly safety newsletter and other safety communications
- Act as a safety liaison when the LBC Emergency Action Plan is initiated
- Act as the Environmental liaison with internal and external LBC customers/vendors in the management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste; Identify, abate, or eliminate sources of pollutants or environmental hazards
- Maintain documentation related to EHS initiatives
- Assist with the administration of EHS programs
Job Requirements:
General qualifications for this role:
- 4 year college degree preferred in safety or environmental studies
- Five or more years of dedicated safety and environmental work experience in manufacturing, preferably in a heavy manufacturing setting
- Maintain current First Aid, CPR, AED certification
