Location: Creve Coeur, MO
Description: Our client is currently seeking a Biologist with experience in plant development and physiology in the organization of Innovation Science and Engineering (ISE). ISE is a fast paced, timeline-driven, team-oriented environment that requires collaboration, strong attention to detail, and ability to work in a diverse and multifunctional team environment. The position will also be responsible for identifying opportunities for system or process improvements, onboarding of new technologies or methods, and assisting in method development. The successful candidate will thrive on meeting challenges, insist on high quality deliverables, demonstrate effective problem-solving skills, and possess the ability to build productive external and internal relationships.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
  • Support the design, execution and analysis of experiments to better understand/characterize the physiological & developmental response of crop plants to various treatments aiming to improve plant performance
  • Generate high quality data and maintain detailed record keeping and documentation for process improvements
  • Collaborate with other scientists on the team and support the discovery, development and deployment of novel technologies
  • Complete job-related trainings and share a culture of safety, innovation, customer focus & collaboration.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or above in area of biological sciences
  • 1 or more years of research experience in Crop/Plant Physiology, Seed biology, Plant Developmental Biology, Plant Reproductive biology, Plant Cell Biology, Tissue culture and Transformation, Plant Biochemistry or related field is desired
  • A high attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of time
Desired Technical Skills:
  • General Plant Care (GH watering, fertilizing)
  • Greenhouse and Growth Chamber Basic Operation (setting and monitoring environmental conditions)
  • Corn Pollination
  • Seed germination assay
  • Media Preparation
  • Basic Imaging and Imaging Analysis
  • Field Support
