Caltrol is Hiring an Environmental Health And Safety Manager in Los Angeles, CA!

This position is a key role leading the Caltrol's environmental, safety and health efforts to drive best-in-class strategies related to compliance, prevention, and culture. You will have the opportunity to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the sites, using the Safety Management System (found OneSource) Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs to mitigate risk, prevent injuries, meet regulatory requirements and protect people, property and the environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Serve as a partner to support Caltrol in work-related injury/illness response & management
  • Serve as the company safety & health liaison with all local, state and federal regulatory agencies, as well as our strategic partners, such as Emerson.
  • Maintaining safety statistics and filings with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and third-party auditing companies and ensuring compliance.
  • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support EHS management.
  • Maintain relevant EHS logs and documentation.
  • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Aid and advice on EHS issues to make recommendations to management.
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis
  • Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE training.
  • Provide safety and health expertise and leadership in the development and deployment of EHS practices including safety & health policies, tools, standards, and best practices
  • Develop and execute site safety & health programs to ensure compliance with state, federal and corporate requirements
  • Provide Caltrol with expert knowledge and guidance related to compliance with air, water, waste, dangerous goods, and other environmental regulations
  • Provide incident investigation and corrective action guidance
  • Provide guidance for risk assessments for equipment, processes & chemicals through processes such as Equipment Safety Reviews, Job Hazard Analysis, and ergonomic assessments.
  • Lead various teams supporting EHS activities across the sites
  • Develop and communicate meaningful reporting to drive awareness to trends and generate urgency relating to EHS performance and execution
  • Leverage available systems to maximize the impact of EHS activities, to measure performance, and to drive accountability.
  • Oversee or delegate oversight of various EHS-related vendors
  • Encourage and keep records of daily, monthly, and quarterly safety meetings and training.
  • Perform facility EHS Inspections on a periodic basis.
  • Ability to evaluate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE
  • Assist in emergency response and provide first aid treatment.
  • Oversee Behavior Based Safety Programs.
  • Create documentation of the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) through our field operations
  • Responsible for coordination and conducting of internal and external audits for Caltrol locations


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry or safety related science.
  • 5-7+ years of experience developing, implementing, and maintaining Environmental, Health and Safety programs for subjects in a general industry setting.
  • Demonstrated communication, leadership and influencing skills
  • Applied knowledge of relevant OSHA, EPA, Cal OSHA, state regulatory agency and industry standards and practices (DOT, CUPA, DTSC, CERS, SCAQMD, BAAQMD)
  • Experience developing and conducting EHS training
  • Team leadership experience
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States


QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

  • Professional certification (CSP, ASP, CIH, etc. Or any others) preferred
