Position: Environmental Planner

Prunuske Chatham, Inc. (PCI) is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our team in Sebastopol, California. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven, detail-oriented professional with an understanding of the regulatory environment in California, especially as it relates to evaluating and permitting restoration and other natural resource projects. The Environmental Planner will work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to complete CEQA and NEPA impact analyses and permit a wide range of restoration, natural resource management, and infrastructure projects. The position includes conducting research and coordinating with public and private clients, engineers and designers, technical subconsultants, and resource agency staff to ensure project success. The Environmental Planner will provide support to PCI's principals and project managers and play a key role in bringing projects to implementation.

Key Responsibilities under Supervision of a Principal Environmental Planner

• Gather data, conduct research, and prepare clear, concise written reports for a variety of natural resource management projects.
• Assist with preparation of documents, reports, presentations, technical memoranda, public notices, forms, and other work products with a focus on CEQA and NEPA documents.
• Prepare ecological permit applications and supporting documentation for federal, State, and local resource agencies.
• Work collaboratively with PCI science and design staff and external clients throughout the project cycle to facilitate successful environmental compliance outcomes through construction and permit closeout.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental studies, planning, environmental science, or related field.
• Professional experience demonstrating increasing responsibilities in the preparation of documents that comply with CEQA/NEPA, as well as knowledge of other federal, State, and local environmental rules and regulations. Skills not specific to CEQA/NEPA or environmental permitting, but transferable to the field of regulatory compliance, will be considered.
• Knowledge and understanding of CEQA, NEPA, and other environmental regulations.
• Familiarity with permitting pathways for environmental projects in California.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
• Commitment to producing quality work within established budgets and schedules.
• Ability to manage competing demands and prioritize tasks while working on multiple projects.
• Strong work ethic with a positive attitude.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Desired Skills

• Proficiency with ArcGIS and related software for spatial analysis, as well as ability to produce maps for display and publication.
• Project management and ability to coordinate with internal and external clients.
