Position Summary:

MEDiC Life Sciences is a young genomics biotech startup based in San Carlos, CA, developing novel oncology therapeutics for solid tumors. We are harnessing our unique 3D-tumor based CRISPR functional genomics platform (published in Nature, 2020) to identify prognostic and effective first-in-class drug targets for various solid tumors. The individual will play a critical role in establishing/managing CRISPR cell lines and also in supporting scientists performing CRISPR screens or in vivo animal experiments. The individual should demonstrate excellent skills in aseptic technique such as mammalian cell culture. The candidate should be familiar with several basic cellular/molecular biology tools such as plasmid/gDNA purification, PCR, transfection, transduction, and expected to prepare/manage inventories of molecular/cell biology reagents and buffers. The Research Associate will operate in a highly collaborative environment, partnering with scientists working on preclinical animal tests and biological mechanism studies of novel cancer drug targets.

Requirements:
  • High proficiency in cell culture techniques including cancer and primary cell lines.
  • High organizational skills required to prepare/manage a large inventory of cell lines and molecular/cell biology reagents and buffers.
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, bioengineering, chemistry, or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently following detailed work instructions, and as part of a cohesive team

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with mammalian/human cell editing workflows is strongly preferred (lentiviral transductions, transfections, CRISPR, among others).
  • Hands-on experience with techniques such as cell sorting, flow cytometry and PCR.
  • Familiarity with basic animal handling (mouse)
  • 1+ years of laboratory/industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Flexible support for multiple research projects
  • Experience with ordering, inventory upkeep, and restocking.
