Position Summary:

This position will lead the day-to-day EHS function at our Louisville Operations facility and assist with the re-design of our EHS programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee company-wide safety training programs for cultivation, extraction, finished product, shipping/receiving and all office personnel
  • Coordinate provisions of OSHA and other regulations related to occupational safety and health; coordinates the development and implementation of environmental safety standards and policies
  • Utilize knowledge of federal and state regulations to make recommendations and decisions regarding safe work practices
  • Provide guidance and technical expertise to all managers, supervisors and employees regarding mandatory requirements and safety procedures; recommends or directs corrective measures to ensure employee safety and adherence to state and federal requirements
  • Lead the research and investigation involving industrial safety and hygiene, including hazardous materials, communicates and disseminates information, and implements actions to resolve related problems
  • Work closely with vendors/partners to organize and facilitate mandatory safety training in compliance with regulations; evaluates training effectiveness
  • Maintain all records required by law including management of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), as well as other required training and health testing
  • Conduct investigations of accidents to determine root causes and implements and/or recommends preventative measures to prevent future occurrences
  • Develop and manages all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) procedures, ensuring equipment appropriately protects employees and is utilized and maintained according to necessary standards
  • Conduct and mentor employees in behavior based safety
  • Establish and lead emergency response and evacuation planning
  • Lead job safety analysis and risk assessments for equipment and facilities
  • Create and deliver safety training content and programs. Serve as Train the Trainer
  • Assist with Workers Compensation claim management and action plans
  • Assume leadership role or assists with the responsibilities for cleaning and sanitation activities
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications
  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Science, related technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible safety leadership and management experience with direct accountability for workplace safety and health
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations and requirements (EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.)
  • Skill and ability to conduct and support sensitive investigations involving company personnel, assets and/or proprietary information
  • Knowledge in the technical fundamentals of safety management and risk assessments and reduction in a diverse set of environments, including machinery safety, warehouse operations, farm labor, ergonomics, and occupational health
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with desire to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment managing multiple assignments
  • A proven track record in successfully designing and executing a workplace safety program
  • Consultative approach with strong problem-solving, collaboration, networking and influencing abilities
  • Strong problem solver with an emphasis on execution
  • Self-starter with proven ability to work independently and on own initiative
  • Organized and task oriented
  • Ability to maintain appropriate level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Adaptable to frequent change in an entrepreneurial and dynamic culture
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Occasional travel to all sites and locations, primarily in Colorado


Preferred Qualifications
  • EHS certifications applicable to our sites and locations
  • Forklift trainer certification
  • Hemp/Cannabis, nutritional, food or supplement industry experience
  • Working in a start-up or high growth organization


Compensation:

$80,000.00 - $133,500.00
