THE ROLE
The EHS intern role is designed to provide exposure to the internal and external requirements of environmental, health, and safety. You will partner with the EHS team in establishing and maintaining a safe work environment and safety culture. TOP RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and selection of IT Tool to support EH&S data collection and report generation.
- Support implementation of Learning Management System.
- Assist with plant EHS initiatives: Chemical Management, Lockout/Tagout, Ergonomics, Management of Change, Regulated Waste, Injury Prevention, etc.
- Aid planning, development, implementation, update, and compliance auditing of environmental, health, and safety programs and training.
- Drive implementation of countermeasures for EH&S-related action items.
- Serve as an EH&S resource for Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team.
- Support manufacturing facility through the execution of assignments and projects.
- Other EH&S assignments and projects as identified by EH&S Manager or EH&S Specialist.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in EHS Management, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Engineering, or other associated discipline.
- Must have Junior status at an accredited college/university/technical school.
- Experience working in an industrial facility preferred.
- Knowledge of EHS principles such as OSHA/EPA compliance, risk assessment, etc. through introductory coursework
- Excellent oral, written, multi-tasking and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and observational skills.
- Good administrative, organizational and project management skills
- Solid problem solving, written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with computer software programs, including MS Office Suite.
- Approximately; 85% of work is performed in a manufacturing environment. 15% of work may involve being in an office environment
