Company Description
It takes a lot of very smart, hard-working and talented people to provide the level of care that we give to our patients. Tufts Medical Center is an internationally respected academic medical center and we pride ourselves not only on the sophistication of the care we deliver, but the compassionate way in which we provide it. And that starts with our employees.
Job Description
The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute, Tufts Medical Center, Boston, invites post-doctoral applications for a position in the laboratory of Dr. Basak Icli. We are an NIH funded lab and employ a combination of biochemical, genomic and functional genomic approaches to study non-coding RNAs and to elucidate their function in endothelial cell biology and obesity. Several novel non-coding RNAs have been identified from the adipose endothelium of obese mice. We will characterize these through a combination of approaches including functional genomics (CRISPR/Cas9), Next generation sequencing, cell lines, patient samples and in-vivo studies.
Qualifications
The Ph.D. and/or M.D. candidate must have a strong background in molecular and cellular biology and genomics. Experience in vivo mouse studies is required. Successful candidate will be responsible for the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments, analyze and interpret the data and prepare scientific presentations and publications.
An ideal candidate is creative, dedicated, enjoys scientific discovery, and able to work independently in a collaborative lab environment. Prior achievement as demonstrated by publications/presentations is required and evidence for motivation and independence will be considered.
Requirements:
Advanced training in biological sciences with some demonstration of cellular and molecular biology skills, preferably at the Ph.D. or postdoctoral level or equivalent research.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute (MCRI) is an internationally known institute with several principal investigators studying diverse topics of molecular medicine. The fellow will work closely with the principal investigator, her lab, and other members of this dynamic research institute. Please visit our website at: www.tuftsmedicalcenter.org/mcri.
