The Opportunity:

The Department of Biology and Chemistry at the Prescott, Arizona campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University seeks to fill a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in Biology to begin in August 2022. We expect to hire at the Assistant Professor level, but will also consider a hire at the Associate Professor level under special circumstances.

The department offers two B.S. degrees in Forensic Biology and Applied Biology. The successful candidate will support Applied Biology. Possible course load might be general biology, molecular biology, genetics, ecology, or botany classes. Department faculty are expected to display excellence in teaching across the undergraduate Biology curriculum, including service courses for other degree programs. The successful candidate will also maintain a research program that is competitive for external funding and accessible to undergraduate students. Service on departmental, campus, and university committees is also expected.

Current Biology faculty research interests include:
  • wildlife and aviation/airports
  • microbial, environmental and wildlife forensics
  • effects of microgravity during long-term space travel

Qualifications

A Ph.D. degree in Biology or related field is required for this position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
