CBS News and Stations needs a Vice President of Content Development to work with and across the stations group to strategically increase premium multi-platform content creation in each of the cities where we operate. This senior executive will work directly with Station newsrooms to build, bring together and lead a best-in-class team of reporters and storytellers to support original, next-generation journalism across all our linear and streaming platforms.
You will stand up and lead a content unit tasked with developing unique franchises. This unit will build innovative products and experiences that establish CBS Stations as leading voices in taking on and solving for the most significant local topics of our time. This individual will leverage data and technology to find new ways to tell stories with a focus on data journalism and visualization as well as investigative and solution-oriented journalism that affects change and drives impact.
The executive along with the Stations' teams will look beyond the short term news agenda and instead will dig deeper, uncovering, discovering and seeking to listen to voices that are often overlooked.
The goal is to empower creators in different regions - people with different backgrounds and life experiences - to report…to create…to drive discovery and conversation on highly-topical issues including but not limited to race and social justice, climate change and the evolution of communities. The executive will also be responsible for collaborating with CBS News to bring together the power of the entire organization to advance premium storytelling.
Our motivation at CBS is to drive meaningful change! This means we go beyond just words on a page to connect with those who can use what we reveal to make a difference in the world.
The ideal candidate has a passion for and a proven, successful track record in crafting groundbreaking high-impact journalism across platforms, building dynamic and innovative teams while fostering a positive work environment. The candidate is also a multi-skilled creator themselves.
Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Journalism, Communications or related areas of study
• 5 years of experience as News Director preferred with a record of leading a culture of original reporting
