Job Description:
The Department of Geography and Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in CLIMATOLOGY. We seek an outstanding geographer/climatologist who is conducting innovative research and who can work successfully with the Louisiana Office of State Climatology and with funded research programs within the Department and University. The candidate will seek external funding, work with graduate students, and teach a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in weather and climate. Specializations within climatology are open. Current directions in the department include extreme weather events, coastal climatology, computer programming, climate variability and climate change, climate services, hazards and disaster science, climate migration, and regional climate modeling/downscaling. We anticipate that the candidate will contribute to our Climate and Disaster Science Management (DSM) undergrad concentrations, intersect with our GIS program at all levels, and be proficient in the world of "big data." The candidate will also have opportunities to actively engage with stakeholders and outreach efforts associated with Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program and the South-Central Climate Adaptation Science Center.

PhD is required at the time of appointment, but ABD candidates near completion of the degree will be considered.
