Overview:
Performs microbiological monitoring and testing of products.
Responsibilities:
Responsible to conform to all requirements and standards as specified by the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standardResponsible to comply with all Quality and Food Safety Management standards and/or systems to ensure continual improvement and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System with the ability to satisfy our customers and provide products that are in accordance to their intended use and safe for human consumptionTest food samples for micro-organisms according to supplied standard operating proceduresPrepare media as requiredFollow company policiesFollow safety proceduresUse SAP to enter results, release product, hold product and maintain any other statuses as appropriate for the products in the system, including special system releases.Drive company car to pick up samples and supplies.Recording, plating, and preparation of samples.Petrifilm reading.Accurately complete Sample Analysis Forms, Compilation Forms, Recording Form, GLPs, Analytical Laboratory Record Review Form and COAs.Maintain spreadsheets associated with samples received and samples in testing process.Research and investigate quality records pertaining to customer complaintsPerform other duties as assigned by supervisors and managements
Qualifications:
Must have Bachelors of Science Degree in scientific field of studyLaboratory experience a plus, but not requiredBe able to work independently inside and outside the laboratoryBasic computer skills a plusMust have English reading/writing proficiencyMust have PC skills, proficiency in Windows, Microsoft office applications, emailingMust be able to work independentlyMust have competent math skillsRead and follow written instructions carefully.Assist in special projects assigned by Quality Assurance management which may require calculations, computations, creative design, and critical thinking skills.Work Environment: Industrial plant environment with related noise and temperatures.Physical Requirements:Must be able to work on feet for extended periods of time, climb stairs and walk at least 1200 feet unassistedMust be able to lift 40 poundsRequires climbing, standing, stooping, twisting, lifting and other physical movements to perform job.Employment is contingent upon drug screen, background verification and skills test required for some positions.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, sex, color, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or on the basis of disability.
