Overview
  • Collaborating cross-functionally and acting as a subject matter expert for the firm, executes medium and large-scale, complex programs and projects to integrate an ESG lens into the company's operations, with a specific focus on climate change
  • Partners with Enterprise ESG colleagues and business functions to contribute to the execution of Enterprise ESG and Climate Change strategies including developing and executing on position statements, developing and reporting metrics, vice chairing councils and working groups, influencing colleagues and developing training and communication programs
  • Acts as Chair of Climate Change Working Group and Vice Chair of the Enterprise ESG Steering Council, driving and managing cross-functional projects to execute strategy, implement leading initiatives and help ensure achievement of public goals and commitments
  • Responsible for climate reporting and disclosure to meet regulations and commitments such as TCFD; develops climate change strategy content for inclusion in Enterprise ESG report and disclosures
  • Liaises with government affairs, risk, compliance and marketing to support the dissemination of and adherence to BNY Mellon's global positions, policies, commitments, and external regulatory requirements
  • As part of the ESG data assurance team, helps ensure effective management of content and data in the reporting and disclosure processes including supporting Division Head in ESG Disclosure Subcommittee activities
  • Acts as specialist and reviewer of public materials and disclosures prior to release
  • Guides Associates and Managers in preparing materials for status reporting, including Enterprise ESG scorecard
  • Required skills and experience :
  • Strong command of the Enterprise ESG and climate change disciplines, and keen understanding of related policies, trends and advancements
  • Understanding of how the investment community, and other key stakeholders, evaluates and views Enterprise ESG and climate change performance
  • Ability to influence, motivate and mobilize staff in varied roles across the firm, both ESG and non-ESG, to drive continuous improvement and advance ESG performance
  • Ability to interact with and present to key stakeholders such as clients and senior executives
  • Understanding of and experience working with various business functions, specifically government affairs, risk, brand, marketing, human relations, compliance and investor relations
  • Existing knowledge of the banking or financial services industry, particularly within an ESG context, preferred
  • Qualifications

    Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience focusing on ESG, corporate responsibility and/or sustainability required. Master or similar graduate degree preferred. 10-12 years of total work experience with 7-10 years background in ESG, corporate responsibility and/or sustainability. GRI and/or SASB FSA certifications preferred.
