Overview

The Senior Systems Analyst will wrangle and streamline new and existing systems within the Department of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), acting as the go-to person for guidance on process improvement, data collection, and data analysis. The Senior Analyst will design and implement new processes and workflows, train new users on existing systems, and establish best practices.

The Senior Analyst will also have the opportunity to create and modernize safety training and awareness materials as well as produce content for presentations and for Institute-wide safety emails.

Requirements

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Systems/Process Design & Maintenance
  • Spearhead the launch of a new EHS management system.
  • Wrangle and manage existing EHS systems & programs to streamline workflows and processes.
  • Evaluate current processes and determine areas for improvement.
  • Design and modify processes in concurrence with departmental needs.
  • Revamp and maintain the EHS intranet webpage.
  • Act as the contract owner for vendor software.

Data Analysis
  • Analyze incident data and develop safety reporting metrics to assess performance.
  • Develop dashboards with leading and lagging quality indicators to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure data is presented in an organized manner to highlight the safety/compliance challenges and opportunities to ultimately advance institutional quality and safety goals.
  • Prepare data-driven reports for internal stakeholders (safety committees) and external agencies.

Training & Client Support
  • Collaborate with and support workforce members at all levels of the organization to support their safety/compliance data analysis and management needs.
  • Act as a go-to person for all systems for EHS employees.
  • Conduct training sessions aimed at a wide range of staff backgrounds and educational experience.
  • Develop user guides, training manuals, policies, and procedures for systems and processes.
  • Demonstrate and communicate vision for how processes should be streamlined and provide recommendations on what data should be collected.
  • Work with the EHS Program Manager and Operations Director to develop and modernize safety training modules.
  • Design safety content for the Research Communications newsletter.


Qualifications
  • MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, analytics, business, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
    • 3+ years of experience in a relevant area such as systems administration, data analytics, laboratory research, clinical research, safety, hazardous waste, or healthcare administration.
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel required.
    • Experience with graphic or media design a plus.
    • Exposure to tools such as Tableau, R, Articulate Storyline, Adobe Photoshop, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Sharepoint a plus.
    • Willingness to complete the following trainings: OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hazardous Materials Technician, RCRA Hazardous Waste Management, DOT Hazardous Materials Shipping.
