We seek a talented scientist to combine multi-modal data (genetics, omics, imaging, EHR) to enable the development of new therapeutics in partnership with the Immunology, Fibrosis, and Cardiovascular Thematic Research Center (ICF TRC). In this role, the successful candidate will design and apply computational pipelines to nominate novel drug targets, enable patient enrichment strategies, and guide pre-clinical drug development decisions. A key focus of this role will be to design and execute integrative analyses that leverage multi-modal omics data from preclinical and human data sets to predict disease risk, identify disease subtypes and/or discriminate treatment response.
The successful candidate will be an important member of ICF Predictive Sciences in the globally distributed Informatics & Predictive Sciences (IPS) department. This department is involved in collaborative bioinformatics, computational biology, and patient selection research alongside colleagues in the Research & Early Development (R/ED) organization.

The successful candidate will also be encouraged to publish their work and to present at external meetings and conferences.Responsibilities
- Design and perform analyses to infer causal mechanisms driving cardiovascular and fibrotic diseases integrating collected from pre-clinical models and human data sets
- Drive implementation of predictive models combining clinical, genetic, imaging and circulating biomarkers to illuminate biological mechanisms, enable patient stratification, and indication expansion
- Provide data-driven input on experimental design for target validation efforts (e.g. relevant cell types, assay read-outs, and/or appropriate genetic perturbations).
- Connect therapeutic hypotheses to specific patient populations (e.g. using polygenic risk scores)
- Work with internal and external partners (in academia and industry) to collect functional data and develop integrative methods to empower future discovery efforts in ICF.
- Participate in and oversight of scientific report writing. Presentation of methods, results and conclusions to a publishable standard.
- Communicate findings in multiple settings (including 1:1, seminars, group, and project meetings)
- A Ph.D. in genomics, genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology, engineering, statistics, or a related field and 2 + years relevant experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability of contributing to and helping advance multi-disciplinary team projects
- Proficiency with at least one high-level programming language (R, Python, C/C++) for complex data analysis and reproducible research practices
- Expertise in statistical genetics, especially experience with GWAS/QTL integration, Mendelian randomization, and polygenic risk scores, and/or clinical genomics
- Experience in analysis of high-dimensional molecular data, such as single-cell RNAseq, Exome and Whole Genome Sequencing, high-throughput proteomics
- Strong communication, data presentation, and visualization skills
- Track record of excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to provide concise summaries of complex data to empower decision making.
- Background in ICF diseases (e.g. autoimmune diseases, heart failure, and fibrosis) and/or experience working with clinical trial data is a plus
