Job Overview
Advanta Analytical Laboratories is seeking a Senior Microbiologist with substantial clinical microbiology experience to adjunct our robust PCR/NGS laboratory. Applicant must be energetic, positive, motivated, and must have a great work ethic. Applicant will work closely with the Lab Director to execute microbial analysis for various patient matrix samples.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Routine analysis of samples using analytical procedures for which training has occurred.
• Successful completion of proficiency testing samples and initial demonstration of capability to demonstrate competence as required for certifications and client requests.
• Must be able to obtain traceable, reproducible, and reliable results with limited supervision.
• Scientific writing for reporting, data management reporting, and ability to follow standard operating procedures is a must.
• Full training, proficiency, and operation of the lab designated LIMS system for client samples
• Participate in the revision of existing procedures and the drafting of new procedures under the supervision of the Laboratory Director.
• Provide laboratory services for health departments, for community environmental health programs and for physicians needing microbiology cultures for diagnosis and treatment
• Validate microbiological methods to meet CLIA and CAP requirements
• Ensure data is recorded accurately in accordance with guidelines
• Remain up to date with scientific and research developments
• Write research papers, reports, and reviews
Preferred Skills and Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Molecular biology, Microbiology, or related field required. Masters or Ph.D. degree preferred.
• 3 years of successful clinical microbiology experience
• Deep knowledge in managing clinical microbiology samples
• Able to lift 25 pounds
• Proficiency in numeracy and IT skills
• Superb problem-solving skills
• Able to work well in a team and to manage your own workload
