Environmental Practice Leader - CEQA NEPA
Sequence has been exclusively retained and is currently seeking a Environmental Practice Leader to head up CEQA / NEPA permitting and compliance projects related to infrastructure projects in throughout the western United States with focus on California.
This is currently one of the most exciting opportunities in the niche environmental industry. We are seeking an seller / doer capable of engaging in a variety of efforts with emphasis on solar, onshore wind, transportation and other utility infrastructure.
Our client, one of the nations oldest environmental, engineering and construction management consulting firms, is look to advance its operations here in the west with the addition of a strong NEPA / CEQA practitioner with ability to engagement with clients in the marketplace.
We are being specifically tasked to aggressively seek a professional capable of nurturing client relationship with a proven track record of executing work within the market sector.
General requirements of the role include:
Develop new clients; work with existing managers to expand existing client relationships.
Prepare proposals and lead teams through county, state and federal permit processes.
Undertake agency coordination, leading technical teams and contractors providing technical deliverable.
Carry out permitting of complex projects in a dynamic work environment, have strong critical thinking capabilities, and have a flexible approach to problem solving.
Possess a Bachelor's degree but preferably a graduate degree in environmental sciences, urban/regional planning, environmental policy, environmental studies, and/or related field.
Minimum of 10+ years of experience, with more experience preferred, with account management, business development, environmental assessments and federal, state, and local regulatory compliance/permitting in the US.
Client relationships and project history with renewable energy, transportation, or utility infrastructure market and a proven track record of engaging on new work proposals and solicitation..
Strong working knowledge of NEPA and state siting and permitting processes such as California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council (EFSC), etc.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), as the position requires frequent and effective interaction with clients, regulatory agencies, other team members and the public.
Strong program and project management skills in successfully scoping and managing project teams and deliverables.
Experience with agency coordination, leading technical teams and contractors providing technical deliverables.
