Description
The Partners Section of the Wildlife Division is primarily responsible for habitat development and restoration efforts, and access programs on privately owned lands.
Location: 2200 North 33rd Street-Lincoln, Nebraska
Schedule: Varied
Examples of Work
Under direction of Upland Habitat and Access Program Manager, assist with Statewide administration, coordination and implementation of upland game habitat programs (e.g. Berggren Pheasant Plan), public access programs (e.g. Open Fields & Waters) and research projects and monitoring activities (pheasant, bobwhite and prairie grouse).
Activities include: coordination of Upland Habitat and Access program activities with field staff statewide, coordination of publication of Public Access Atlas, contract coordination, program promotion, conducting upland game surveys, assisting with upland game research, attending/presenting at meetings/conferences, and reporting. Work closely with Pheasants Forever, the University of Nebraska, and other partners. Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in fish or wildlife management or closely related field or equivalent experience in the field of biological science AND three years experience in fish or wildlife management or a closely related field: OR Master's degree in fish or wildlife management or closely related field or equivalent experience in the field of biological science AND one year experience in fish and wildlife management or a closely related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of wildlife and habitat management principles, goals, objectives and techniques, ecological principles, and species' life histories and habitat needs. Basic knowledge of budgeting processes and record keeping systems. Solid computer skills, especially Microsoft Office, Survey 123 or other electronic data collection software, and ArcGIS.
Ability to communicate effectively, plan, set goals and prioritize work. Ability to perform heavy physical labor and work outdoors for long periods of time; operate and maintain various tools. Ability to guide the work of others and develop and maintain professional relations with a broad range of agencies and constituents.
