Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
  • Manifest, package, and provide spill clean-up response and remedial activities, labeling, loading, off-loading, and coordinating transportation.
  • Assist in the loading/unloading of hazardous waste materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment such as drum dollies, forklift, etc. to ensure transfer of waste in a safe and timely manner.
  • Maintain a professional image to clients.
  • Answer Customer inquiries and suggest solutions to existing/potential problems.
  • Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with Lonestar Ecology policies.
  • Become familiar with all U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT)/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and LSE regulations required in submitting paper work to expedite disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in donning and doffing appropriate PPE.
  • Ability to use an air-purifying respirator (APR)
  • Operate and maintain all equipment in a professional manner to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned as assigned by outside services manager.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

  • Environmental Degree/ Chemistry or Earth Science Degree preferred but not required
  • 40 Hour OSHA Certified/With annual 8 Hour Refresher is desired.
  • Some Waste handling and processing experience preferred.
  • Some familiarity with the following equipment is desirable:
    • Sampling equipment
    • Fork truck
    • CDL B


Other Skills and Abilities

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of RCRA regulations
  • Familiarity with common chemical terms and simple chemical principles.
  • Good oral and written communication.
  • Basic computer skills


Physical Demands/Work Environment

Physical Demands

  • Be able to lift 50 pounds safely
  • Be able to move 55-gallon drums with manual drum mover
  • Be able to work in an outside environment approximately 75% of the time.
  • Be able to walk, climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear.


Physical Environment / Other Job Demands

  • Must be able to enter a hazardous area.
  • Must be clean shaven.
  • Must be able to wear and use a demand type respirator.
  • Must be able to wear fire resistant clothing.
  • Must be available for occasional overnight travel.
  • Must be able to obtain a Class B CDL with Hazardous Materials Endorsement.
