The Environmental, Health and Safety Officer is responsible for the development, implementation, and support of strategies, systems and programs to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

What You'll Do as an Environmental Health :
  • Inspect the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develop and implement inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.
  • Plan, implements and conducts preventative safety and compliance training programs.
  • Monitor compliance with safety procedures and drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.
  • Ensure material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Maintain records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
  • Collaborate with Management team to develop and implement an Emergency Action Plan when injuries and accidents occur.
  • Responsible for Worker's Compensation loss control programs and reporting requirements, including OSHA logs.
  • Ensure required regulatory permits are acquired, reports submitted to regulatory agencies, and site permit conditions (e.g. sampling, recordkeeping) are met.
  • Achieve annual targets for incident frequency, severity and related cost reductions.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, State/Local Regulators).
  • Act as a resource to plant management teams regarding all security related operations.
  • Administer plant hearing conversation program and annual audiometric testing.
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene, and monitoring efforts.


We're Looking for Someone With:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; Master's degree desirable.
  • Five years of related experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.


Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • The manufacturing plant is comprised of 250,000 square feet of enclosed office and manufacturing space. This position requires the ability to:
    • Move throughout entire facility to attend to various issues
    • Work effectively in teams with strong communication skills and ability to lead
    • Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time
